Saturday
No regular class. However, students are required to attend a workshop which
usually lasts two to three hours. After this time, most students relax and
finish any labs or homework from the week. Some classes have required
projects/labs during this time, and the MAYA residential staff plans activities
for those students wanting to relieve stress after a long week.
Students may be checked out by their parents after the workshop. Please check with the MAYA staff to determine when that particular weekend's workshop will be completed.
Sunday
There is no class. All students participate in a full schedule of on-campus
recreational and social activities, which are supervised by the MAYA staff.
Students may use this "down time" to relax and socialize with friends,
or to use this time to complete project hours. Day trips to local attractions
are planned and change from year to year depending on student
interest.
Students must be checked into the residential complex by on-hall.
Missouri Academy Weekend
One weekend during the program is designated as "Missouri Academy
Weekend." During this weekend, students who come to MAYA are exposed to the
Missouri Academy for Mathematics, Science & Computing located in Maryville,
MO. This weekend usually entails a barbeque at the local recreational area and
meeting with present and past students at the Missouri Academy for Mathematics,
Science & Computing.
