College is more than just hitting the
books. At the MAYA program, students will reside in Missouri S&T's
dormitories, eat in the college cafeteria and experience college-level
activities. Each room is equipped with a bed, a desk and a
refrigerator.
Daily Schedule
Students will alternate between time spent
in their major and minor throughout the day.
What should I bring?
- sheets for a XL twin bed, a pillow, and an
alarm clock;
- school supplies such as paper, pencils and
pens; (those is a math-intensive course should bring a calculator);
- toiletries such as shampoo, soap,
toothbrush and toothpaste;
- clothes hangers, swim suits, hair dryers,
cameras and blankets;
- recreational supplies such as racquetball
or ping-pong rackets, frisbees, softball gloves, and various other sports
equipment. Sports equipment that is deemed dangerous (such as foils, epees or
sabers) will be confiscated and can be checked out at appropriate
times;
- a variety of clothing for both air
conditioned and un-air conditioned areas; rooms and classes are air conditioned
so students should be prepared for this;
- computer, televisions and portable game
systems are allowed provided that they do not detract from the student
completing their academic work; such items may be confiscated until the end of
the program if deemed necessary by program officials.
- business casual clothes for the final day of the program,
Presentation Day.
What should I NOT
bring?
- weapons of any kind unless necessary for
sports; such equipment must be declared and turned in to staff; this equipment
can be checked-out at appropriate times;
- pets of any kind;
- any material that damages furniture (e.g.,
Gack, Slime, etc);
- bicycles, skateboards or
scooters;
- Halogen lamps, light bulbs or hot
pots;
- laser pointers;
- any items that would be seen to
unnecessarily distract students from the program; we reserve the right to
confiscate any item for the length of the program that we deem to be a
distraction or danger to either students or their academic success.
