Costs

The fees associated with the MAYA program have been separated into two distinct categories: tuition and fees.

Tuition: Tuition covers the cost of instruction, books, testing materials, field trips and project materials. This cost is waived for Missouri residents.

Fees: Fees cover the cost of housing and three meals a day on the Missouri University of Science & Technology campus for the four weeks at the program. Also covered are costs associated with non-academic activities such as the minor course and evening activities. All residential MAYA participants are responsible for these costs. (Fees for the 2008 camp were $1,250 with a $100 reduction in fees for those applying by the priority deadline; 2009 fees may be higher.)

--A complete fee schedule for MAYA 2009 will be posted at a later date--

Not Included in "Tuition and Fees":

  • Transportation to and from the MAYA program
  • Personal items and spending
  • Medical services (co-pays, insurance, etc.)
  • Any damages caused by the student during the program

*Non-Refundable Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $25 is due for all students applying for the program.

  • Commuter -
Commuters are those students who prefer to only take part in the academic portion of the program. These students are expected to be on campus for every scheduled hour of class plus any extra hours they will need to complete their 120 hours of work. This may include coming to campus to complete supervised labs and/or group projects with other students. These times may vary from day to day. During the scheduled minor times, commuters may be unsupervised unless other arrangements have been made with the MAYA program. Students may purchase a meal ticket through the University's Residential Life department in order to eat on campus during the lunch and/or dinner periods.
  • Day Student -
Day-program students arrive on campus between 7:30 and 8 A.M. and leave between 7 and 9 P.M. These students may participate in a minor, attend all weekday activities conducted by MAYA, as well as the workshops held on Saturdays. All meals are provided within the cost of the program. Weekend activities are not included, but may be attended if arrangements are made with the MAYA program in advance.
  • Resident -
Residential students stay on the Missouri S&T campus for the entire four-week program. These student may participate in a minor and all activities conducted by the MAYA program. These students are eligible for the weekend workshops and fields trips at no additional cost except for any personal costs incurred by the student.
