Eligibility

MAYA is a summer program on the campus of Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) designed primarily for academically motivated students preparing to start the 8th  through 12th grade in the following fall academic year. As a result of this focus, the MAYA program reserves the right to decline admission to students who cannot be successful in an intensive academic environment or those who become a detriment to other students in this environment.

As part of the application process, the MAYA staff reviews:

  • Letters of recommendation from mathematics and science teachers
  • Current transcripts from the last two complete years of academic work
  • Participation in similar programs, such as Northwestern's Talent Identification Program or Truman State's James Baldwin Academy, if applicable.
  • ACT or SAT scores (required for 11th-  and 12th-graders)
  • Essay
