MAYA is a summer program on the campus of Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) designed primarily for academically motivated students preparing to start the 8th  through 12th grade in the following fall academic year. As a result of this focus, the MAYA program reserves the right to decline admission to students who cannot be successful in an intensive academic environment or those who become a detriment to other students in this environment.

As part of the application process, the MAYA staff reviews:

Letters of recommendation from mathematics and science teachers Current transcripts from the last two complete years of academic work Participation in similar programs, such as Northwestern's Talent Identification Program or Truman State's James Baldwin Academy, if applicable. ACT or SAT scores (required for 11th-  and 12th-graders) Essay
